This weeks Thoughts 💭 Technologize: I’m just trying to survive till Friday!
“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”
― Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
I was introduced to this quote by Peter Hinssen during his keynote about “the never normal” at our innovation days last Friday. I think this quote perfectly captures the current day and age. Technology has been seeping into our life’s slowly and steadily through decades. Now, suddenly it seems to have exploded into a rainbow 🌈 of possibilities. Has it? Living in the technology bubble it is sometimes good to get to a birthday party 🥳 and see no one cares about the developments, people are just trying to survive to Friday.
If you ask me currently what the future looks like, I will tell you: “I’m just trying to survive till Friday”. The explosion 💥 of technology innovation driven by the AI developments are everywhere and are hard to keep track of. What could I do, I hear you think (in my head)? If the techiest of techies are struggling to keep up?
The best advice I have, and I use myself; “take a step back and watch”. Patterns seem to repeat even though the outcomes may differ. Look for those patterns. Remember, Bad new and what I call alarmism sell more papers. That is way it feels like the world is burning on all side. I feel I must tell you that the people that are working to develop and research these technologies are people. Not corporation. Even in Silicon Valley, the capital of the “Tech Bubble” (as I like to call it). The founders I spoke to are amazing people, they have the same concerns. They just have the mind look for solutions not for problem’s. Technology is not the solution for everything, but it is also not at the centre of all our problems.
Some argue this could mean the end of humanity as we know it. Take for instance Yaval Harri with his statement that it is the end of Human History and Culture. Can you blame him, think about it. If all our content our books, video’s, movies, our work is delivered by AI is that still ‘human’ content? The era of hybrid machine and human collaboration. That of ‘synthetic humans’ maybe. How big will be our own footprint? Is it so dire? If you look closely you will start to notice it. Bots to co-pilot our jobs, our lives and even our digital social presences. Your voice, your appearance, your thoughts, can now be recorded and played back! It influences our social norms, but we still have a choice.
Choose wisely when you TECHNOLOGIZE You.
This is not a pro or con edition. It is just a thought piece here to make you think about technology and how it is changing our lives. Sometime for the better. Open your thinking, exchange ideas, thoughts, concerns that can guide our technology progress into mostly good.
P.s: “Super size me” was public wakeup call on fast food. It exposed the world to things we already knew, but somehow choose not to see. Great documentary to watch if you haven’t already.
Stay curious.

This week’s Tech articles
Virtual human? The main influencers on social are not humans, its AI…. I you look closely you will start to notice it. Bots to copilot our jobs, our lives and even our digital social presences. Your voice, your appearance, your thoughts, can now be recored and live on forever! It can all be digitised and stored. Could we keep a record of all humans ever lived? Could we talk to them? Could we understand their thoughts and their time? We used to do it in scrolls, then books, now maybe as synthetic humans?
The IPhone of AI will we have a Jarvis 🤖 in our pocket soon, according to John Ivy we will be able to have personal assistant in our pocket.

Robot dogs? 🧠Stanford University introduced autonomous robot dogs with AI brains – AI researchers at Stanford University and Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute developed a new vision-based algorithm that enables robodogs to scale tall objects, jump across gaps, crawl under low-hanging structures, and squeeze between cracks.
👗 Project Primrose an interactive Dress 👗 by Adobe raised some eyebrows when showcased this week! Of course as techies we want to know What is the tech behind it is?! It is all about #smartmaterials these days. We have seen it with BMW colour changing car last year now this dress 👗, and prior to that the Paris fashion week spray on dress. So What did Adobe use: A reflective-backed polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC), maybe most commonly know as an electroactive (activated by electric power) material commonly used in smart window applications that can go dark when activated. The cool thing is that this low-power and non-emissive material as they say and it can be cut to any shape to be able to build into material.

ElvenLab: https://elevenlabs.io Hello me, Did i just get cloned! Did I just get cloned? As I’m sitting here in the plane to the Holy land of Techies, Silicon valley, I can’t but wonder are we entering a new ‘Post Humanism’ era with AI creating its own synthetic foot print. Are we all slowly transforming in syntactic human? Yes, I very aware of the more philosophical air of this edition, but I wanted to play a bit with the question that I have in my mind and see how it looks on paper.
Books I'm (re)-reading
What I’m reading?! Vonnegut cat’s cradle is a classic. A work by a master storyteller, between satire, fiction, sci-fi and a futuristic tale. Most people talk about, but have never read them so the last couple of years I set out to read 100 to 150 books that most know are classic but never read them. I don’t want to be that person. I love these futuristic, sometimes doom, fun and future thinking, kind of stories like misters Douglas Adam’s collections, or George Overwell’s books, or Oscar Wilde’s thinking. It gives you a perspective of time and thought 💭 it shows you that most of the time it are not new thoughts or problems we are trying to solve, but that the thinking has been around for decades. And I have to say that as an avid reader, probably the older I get, the more I notice that the literary power of the older writers is stronger. Why would that be I wonder, maybe the times we find ourselves in, where everything is done in a hurry? What is your preferred reading?FYI tips; I’m also into some Japanese writers like marukami or Abe that have amazing works!
